Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When did Cavanaugh Church begin?

A: We began in 1962 in the Cavanaugh area of south Fort Smith. You can read more about us and our history HERE.

Q: What are our Sunday services like?

A: The goal of our worship services is to communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ in the best way possible and to help people see God in a real way. We work hard to make sure our worship services are dynamic and relevant.

On Sunday mornings we have a 9:00 a.m. traditional worship service, and a 10:30 a.m. service that is more contemporary.

We also have a 6:00 p.m. Bible Study on Sunday evenings.

Q: What about my children?

A: We have Wee Worship Nursery for toddlers and children up to Kindergarten.

For children in Kindergarten up to the 6th Grade we offer Kid's Territory Ministry which is a complete children’s service presented Sunday mornings during the 9:00 and 10:30 services.

Our groundZERO Youth Ministry for teens through college aged is based on our Win Train Send Mission of winning kids to Christ, training them to grow in their relationship with Him then sending them out to serve in the church and in their communities.

Q: What does your church believe?

A: Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our authority on Christian beliefs and guide to living. We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God and is without error, and that it has been given to us so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love.

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three distinct personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – each possessing all the attributes of God.

Q: Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything or be singled out in any way?

A: We do not ask our visitors to sign anything, wear name badges or stand up to be introduced, nor do you have to contribute any money to the offering plate if you do not want to do so.

Q: What is your mission or what does the phrase "Win Train Send" mean?

A: The mission of the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church can be summed up in these three words: Win--Train--Send

We must Win people to Christ. We must Train believers to become disciples. We must Send disciples to impact the world.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. People wear everything from jeans to suits and from pants to dresses.

Q: Do you have a Small Group Ministry?

A: We have an extensive Small Group Ministry that meets on Sunday evenings at the Church at 6:00 p.m. We call it our Bible Study/Sunday School time.

People meet in a casual atmosphere while children meet in their respective age groups. It is a great time of fun, fellowship and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
